Bulletin

Over the past 24 hours solar activity has been low. No significant flares have been recorded. No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected. The greater than 10MeV proton flux remained at background levels over the past 24 hours. A low latitude negative polarity coronal hole is currently located in the eastern hemisphere. Solar activity is expected to remain low over the next 24 hours. Only B-class flares can be expected. The solar wind speed has been slowly decreasing from around 420 to 335 km/s over the past 24 hours. The total magnetic field strength has fluctuated between 3.3 nT and 5.2 nT. The Bz component has fluctuated between 2.5 nT and +4.3 nT. Geomagnetic conditions ranged Kp index between 0-2 (NOAA) and local K index between 0-2 (Dourbes) over the past 24 hours. Mostly quiet geomagnetic levels are expected today. Unsettled conditions are expected from tomorrow (April 5) due to the possible influences of a high speed stream coming from the polar-connected positive polarity coronal hole.
