Bulletin

The solar activity remained at very low levels with no significant solar flares over the past 24 hours. The visible unipolar sunspot region (Catania 37, N0AA-AR 2767) remained stable and continued to decay. A new currently unclassified sun spot group is now appearing on the solar disc from the north-east limb. The X-ray flux is observed below B-class level and the solar activity is expected to remain at low levels over the next 24 hours.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraph imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at moderate to background levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The solar wind parameters (ACE and DSCOVR) were at low to slightly enhanced levels over the past 24 hours. The total interplanetary magnetic field was weak with values of 3-7 nT. The north-south Bz component fluctuated between -4 nT and 5 nT. In the past 24 hours the Phi angle remained mostly negative under the ongoing influence of the negative polarity equatorial coronal hole which crossed the central meridian on July 23rd. The solar wind speed gradually varied between 360 km/s and 440 km/s, reaching maximum at 22:00 UTC last night. This interval coincides with the switch of polarity of the Bz component from positive to negative direction and the beginning of an isolated period of positive Phi angle. The solar wind conditions are expected to remain quiet to slightly enhanced for the next day under the remaining influence of the HSS, originating from the discussed negative polarity coronal hole.

The geomagnetic conditions were quiet with maximum global Kp-NOAA and local K-Dourbes indices equal to 2. Mostly quiet conditions are expected for the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 019, based on 21 stations.
