Bulletin

The solar disk currently is almost spotless. One single C1.0 flare occurred at the southwest limb. A faint CME was visible, with first measurement in SOHO/LASCO-C2 at 2:24 UT on April 30, related to backside activity and propagating north. There is some chance (40%) for further C-class flares. Solar wind observations indicate the arrival of a flow related to a positive polarity coronal hole. Around 4:00 UT on April 30, temperature and solar wind speed increased (currently at 370 km/s), while the magnitude of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) became more variable and increased to 12 nT. The south component of the IMF is fluctuating between -6 and +8nT. Quiet to unsettled (local K=0 to 3 at Dourbes) geomagnetic conditions were observed. Mainly quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected, with some chance for a few time slots of active (K=4) to minor storm (K=5) conditions within the next 24 hours. Another flow emanating from the extension of a negative polarity northern coronal hole could arrive on May 2.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 011, based on 23 stations.
