Bulletin

Solar flaring activity has been low but increasing. Several low class C flares occurred from Catania groups 77 and 80 (NOAA regions 2454 and 2457). The largest was an C5.6 flare peaking at 5:38 UT from Catania group 77 (NOAA 2454). Catania groups 77 and 80 (NOAA regions 2454 and 2457) showed further growth and development over the period while Catania group 78 (NOAA 2456) was decaying. Flaring is expected to continue at C level over the next period. A filament stretching over the SouthEastern hemisphere started lifting of around 7:00 UT but currently available coronagraph images do not yet allow to assess any possibly related CME. No Earth directed CME's have been observed in coronagraph data over the period. Solar wind speed further decreased from around 400 km/s to 350 km/s. Total magnetic field was below 6 nT and decreased to 4 nT currently, with Bz variable and above -3.5 nT. Geomagnetic conditions were quiet (local K Dourbes 0-2, NOAA Kp 0-1). Nominal solar wind conditions and quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected to continue.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 074, based on 12 stations.
