Solar activity has been low over the past 24 hours. The largest recorded flares were two C1.9 class flares. NOAA Active Region (AR) 2463 (Dao Beta) has been most active, producing one of the C1.9 flares, peaking at 15:21 UT yesterday. AR 2463 has shown small amounts of flux emergence and is expected to continue to produce low-level activity. AR 2464 (Axx Alpha) rotated into view over the East limb and produced the other C1.9 class flare, peaking at 16:23 UT. No Earth directed CMEs have been observed in the past 24 hours. Solar activity is expected to be low. The solar wind speed has been slowly increasing from around 400 km /s to around 500 km/s over the past 24 hours. The total magnetic field strength has fluctuated around 10 nT, and the Bz component has been largely negative, fluctuating between 0 and -10 nT. Geomagnetic conditions ranged between quiet and active (NOAA Kp 3-4, local K Dourbes 1-4). Conditions are expected to fluctuate between unsettled and active over the next couple of days due to a large positive polar coronal hole (CH), with a section extending to low latitudes. The leading Co-rotating Interaction Region (CIR) has probably been the source of increased activity over the past 12 hours, and the following High Speed Stream (HSS) will continue to enhance conditions in the next couple of days.
