Bulletin

Solar activity remains to be low. The only C-class flare reported during the last 24 hours was the C1.1 flare (peaked at 09:00 UT this morning) which originated from the Catania sunspot group 27 (NOAA 2506) currently situated close to the West solar limb. The flare was associated with the EIT wave and the coronal dimming. The presence of these on-disc signatures of the CME gives indication that the flare had an associated CME. More information will be reported as soon as coronagraph data become available. The filament eruption with the source region at the center of the solar disc, was observed on March 3, at about 15:30 UT. The associated CME might be Earth-directed. However, this cannot be presently confirmed due to the data gap in SOHO/LASCO and STEREO observations. The flaring activity at the C-class level is possible in the coming hours. No Earth directed CMEs were observed in the last 24 hours.

The solar wind speed has decrease to about 380 km/s, and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is about 5 nT. Although not very probable, the arrival of the fast solar wind associated with the small equatorial coronal hole which reached the central meridian in the morning of March 2, might arrive at the Earth on March 5. The geomagnetic conditions are quiet to unsettled, and we expect them to remain so in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 100, based on 12 stations.
