Bulletin

Solar activity was very low in the past 24 hours. No flares, no Earth-directed CMEs were observed. Only one active regions is presently observed on the visible side of the solar disc. Its' photospheric magnetic field configuration is simple (alpha configuration). Solar proton flux intensity is expected to lie within the background levels. Solar activity is expected to be low with some probability for B-class flares only. The variations of the solar wind parameters were weak. Solar wind speed varied between 300 and 330 km/s, while the magnitude of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (Bt) fluctuated between 5 and 8 nT most of the time. Since 7:30 UT today (21-Aug-2016) Bt value increased till 10 nT, while Bz became slightly negative. In the past 24 hours, geomagnetic conditions have been very quiet (K Dourbes between 0 and 2; NOAA Kp between 0 and 2). Geomagnetic activity is expected to continue at low levels today (21-08-2016). However minor geomagnetic storm conditions (K Dourbes = 3-4) are possible from tomorrow.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 011, based on 13 stations.
