Bulletin

The only region on disk (NOAA 2659, Catania group 27) produced several B flares and a couple of C flares. The strongest was a C3.3 flare peaking at 19:28UT. The region was seen to be stable or in decay and it will reach the Western limb in the next 24 hours. The region is expected to produce more B flares over the next 24 hours with a possibility for an isolated C flare, before turning over the limb. No Earth directed CMEs have been observed in coronagraph data. The proton flux levels are at background values and are expected to remain so.

Solar wind conditions showed the wake of the May 23 CME. Solar wind speed remained at levels between 340-400km/s. Total magnetic field remained at elevated levels in the 10-17 nT range with Bz turning Northward and remaining so for most of the period. Just before the end of the period Bz turned Southward again to -12nT currently. The magnetic field phi angle was indicative of magnetic field rotation due to the CME passage. A further decline of solar wind parameters should occur over the next 24 hours. Geomagnetic conditions remained at quiet to active levels (both local K Dourbes and NOAA Kp 0-4) due to the positive Bz orientation. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be at quiet to active levels under the waning influence of the CME passage, although some minor storm levels are initially still possible, should Bz remain consistently negative over the next hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 015, based on 27 stations.
