In the past 24 hours, returning Active Region NOAA 2665 produced a few low B flares. C flares from NOAA 2665 are possible in the next 48 hours, with a chance for an M flare. No earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels. In the past 24 hours, solar wind speed measured by DSCOVR has increased from about 380 to a maximum of about 470 km/s around 17:15 UT on August 1, with current values around 425 km/s. The Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) was mainly oriented towards the Sun, while its magnitude varied between about 1 and 11 nT. Bz varied between about -4 and 9 nT and was mainly positive. A large positive coronal hole extending from the north pole to the equatorial region has been crossing the central meridian from July 31 to August 2. Quiet geomagnetic conditions (K Dourbes between 1 and 2; NOAA Kp between 1 and 3) were registered in the past 24 hours. Active levels (K Dourbes = 4) are possible on August 2, with a slight chance for minor storm conditions (K Dourbes = 5). Quiet to unsettled solar wind conditions (K Dourbes < 4) are expected on August 3. Active to minor storm conditions (K Dourbes = 4 to 5) are possible on August 4, with the expected arrival of a high speed stream from the aforementioned positive coronal hole.
