Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. Sunspot region NOAA 2689 has become nearly spotless and will rotate over the NW limb later today. It produced a small B1 flare around 14UT (PROBA2/LYRA), and its group filament erupted between 01:30UT and 03:00UT. The 40 degrees long filament rounded the SW limb quietly. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels.

Quiet flaring conditions are expected.

Earth remained under the influence of the wind stream from the southern polar coronal hole (CH) extension. Solar wind speed peaked briefly near 540 km/s around 02UT, and ended the period with values near 470 km/s. Bz oscillated mostly between +5 nT and -6 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field was mostly directed towards the Sun. The extension of a positive northern polar CH has started transiting the central meridian.

The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled throughout the period, and is expected to remain so. The high speed stream from the northern polar coronal hole (CH) extension is expected to affect the earth environment starting most likely 04 December. This may result in minor to moderate geomagnetic storming.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 08 stations.
