Bulletin

Solar X ray flux remained below B level. NOAA active region 2701 decayed shortly after emerging but meanwhile a new, yet unnumbered, bipolar region is forming around N20W33. Solar X-ray flux is still expected to remain below C level.

No Earth directed CMEs have been observed in coronagraph data.

Proton flux levels were at background values and are expected to remain so.

Solar wind remained enhanced with solar wind speed first declining to around 420km/s before increasing again to around 500 km/s currently. Total magnetic field reached a maximum of 13nT in the afternoon of March 16 but meanwhile declined to nominal values of around 5nT. The magnetic field phi angle was steady in the negative sector. Enhanced solar wind conditions are expected to continue at least today and into tomorrow under the influence of the negative polarity coronal hole in the northern hemisphere.

Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to active (local K Dourbes 1-4, NOAA Kp 3-4). Active geomagnetic conditions are still to be expected today and tomorrow.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 04 stations.
