Bulletin

Solar activity was at low levels. The largest flare B3.7 originated at NOAA AR 2711 (McIntosh: Cso; Mag.Type: Beta) peaked yesterday (25-May-2018) at 20:09 UT. NOAA AR 2710 decayed to Halpha plage. No earth- directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels. Solar activity is expected to be at low levels with some probability for C class flares. Solar wind parameters returned to the background level. The solar wind speed gradually decreased from 375 km/s till about 320 km/s. The total magnetic field was below 5 nT. The Bz component fluctuated around 0nT between -1 nT and +3 nT. Geomagnetic conditions ranged between Kp index 0-1 (NOAA) and local K index 1-3 (Dourbes) over the past 24 hours. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet today and tomorrow. Later, from 28-May-2017 most likely unsettled geomagnetic conditions can be expected due to the weak influence from a positive polarity low lattitude extension of the northern coronal hole.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 028, based on 18 stations.
