Bulletin

There are no active regions visible on the solar disk. No C-class flares in past 24 h. Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected. Solar protons have remained at background levels over the past 24 hours.

The solar wind speed is at 530 km/s with interplanetary magnetic field intensity of 7 nT. Geomagnetic conditions have reached minor storm levels, due to the arrival of the high speed solar wind from a positive polarity coronal hole. Solar wind speed reached 600 km/s with interplanetary magnetic field intensities close to 20 nT, Bz went down to -15 nT. These solar wind conditions caused active and minor storm periods (K = 4 and 5, both at local and at planetary levels) starting around 12:00 UT on October 7 and still ongoing, as the Earth is inside the fast solar wind stream at present. Geomagnetic conditions will gradually return to quiet levels in the coming hours, but active geomagnetic conditions can still occur today and tomorrow.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 23 stations.
