Bulletin

Solar activity remained at very low levels. There are no sunspot groups on the visible side of solar disk. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed during the period. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values. Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels. Solar wind parameters reflected the passage of a sector boundary crossing, followed by the onset of a corrotating interaction region ahead of high solar wind stream from the positive polarity equatorial coronal hole. Bz varied between -12 nT and +12 nT, while the solar wind speed increased from 340 km/s yesterday (4 November) to values near 630 km/s at 6UT today (5 November). Geomagnetic conditions have reached moderate storm levels on a planetary level (NOAA Kp 6 for the 3-6UT period today, 5 November 2018). Geomagnetic conditions remained mostly at minor storm levels during the period (NOAA Kp 5; Dourbes K 5). Mostly active geomagnetic conditions can be expected further. Isolated episodes of minor storm are not excluded.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 22 stations.
