Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. The Sun was spotless. A small eruption with coronal dimming was observed on 24 December around 06:25UT in a region about 30 degrees beyond the east limb (Farside; STEREO-A/EUVI). The associated coronal mass ejection (CME) was not directed to Earth. No other coronal mass ejections were observed over the last 24 hours. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values. A narrow extension of the positive polarity northern polar coronal hole (CH) has started its transit of the central meridian.

Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

Solar wind speed varied mostly between 300 and 350 km/s (DSCOVR). Bz ranged from -3 to +3 nT, ending the period at +5 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field was predominately directed towards the Sun (negative sector). Quiet geomagnetic conditions were observed.

Quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected to continue, with a small chance on an isolated unsettled interval.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 13 stations.
