Bulletin

During last 24 hours the level of solar flaring activity increased, however all reported flares were only A-class and B-class flares. Since NOAA AR 2733 still has beta configuration of its photospheric magnetic field we expect such a level of solar activity to persist in the coming hours. The isolated C-class flares are also possible, although not very probable. There were no Earth directed CMEs reported during last 24 hours and the solar protons remained at the background level.

The Earth is still inside the fast solar wind with the speed of 610 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is presently about 5 nT. The longer intervals of negative value of the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field and the high solar wind speed induced disturbed geomagnetic conditions. Around the midnight and early morning of January 25 local station at Dourbes and NOAA reported K=5 and Kp=5, respectively. Presently geomagnetic conditions are unsettled to active and we expect such a conditions to persist in the coming hours, with possibly isolated intervals of minor storm conditions (up to K=5).

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 025, based on 11 stations.
