Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. No sunspots were present on the visible solar disk. No coronal mass ejections (CME) were observed over the last 24 hours. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values. A poorly defined, patchy negative polarity equatorial coronal hole (CH) is transiting the central meridian.

Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

The earth environment remained under the influence of the solar wind stream from a positive polarity CH. Solar wind strengthened somewhat, with its speed gradually increasing from its initial 300-360 km/s to 440-490 km/s from 20UT onwards (DSCOVR). Bz varied mostly between -5 and +5 nT, showing more pronounced excursions between -7 and +7 nT during the 20-02UT interval. The interplanetary magnetic field was directed away from the Sun (positive sector). Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions were observed, with the Kp-index reaching active levels during the 21-24UT interval.

Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions are expected to continue, with still a chance on an isolated active episode.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 21 stations.
