Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. The Sun remains spotless. No Earth directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed over the last 24 hours in the available coronagraph imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values. Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

Over the past 24 hours, the solar wind speed decreased from 410 to 320 km/s (DSCOVR). Bz varied between -3 and +2 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field was predominantly directed away from the Sun (positive sector). Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions were observed, with the Kp index ranging between 0-1 (NOAA) and the local K index (Dourbes) ranging between 0-3 over the past 24 hours.

Unsettled to active geomagnetic conditions are expected from late on 17 June/early on 18 June due to the arrival of the solar wind streams associated with the series of fragmented negative polarity coronal holes, which first began to transverse the central meridian on 13 June. A chance of an episode of minor storm conditions in the next few days is also not excluded.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 22 stations.
