Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. The Sun was spotless. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CME) were observed during the period. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values.

Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

Solar wind intensified once more, starting after 15UT with wind speeds being in the 600-660 km/s range from about 20UT until 03UT (ACE). Solar wind speed then gradually decreased to values between 470 and 500 km/s by the end of the period. Bz varied between -5 and +5 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) remained predominately oriented away from the Sun (positive sector).

Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions were observed, and are expected to continue. K Dourbes recorded an isolated active episode during the 23-02UT interval. The wind stream from an irregular shaped negative polarity coronal hole is expected to arrive late on 10 or on 11 August, which may result in mostly unsettled geomagnetic conditions, an isolated active episode not excluded.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 19 stations.
