Bulletin

There are no active regions visible on the disk. Solar activity has been very low over the past 24 hours, no significant flares have been recorded. No Earth directed CMEs have been observed in past 24 hours. The greater than 10MeV proton flux remained at background levels over the past 24 hours.

Solar activity is expected to remain low.

The solar wind speed oscillated around 420 km/s for the first part of the period and then from 20:00 UT Sept 12 it showed a gradual increase reaching a maximum of approximately 530 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field was predominantly directed away from the Sun (positive sector) and gradually increased in magnitude over the period, with values recorded between 1 and 10 nT. The Bz fluctuated between -7 and +8 nT. Geomagnetic conditions have been quiet to unsettled over the past 24 hours, with the Kp index (NOAA) and the local k index (Dourbes) recording values between 1 and 3.

Quiet conditions are expected to continue over the next 48 hours, with isolated unsettled intervals possible.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 20 stations.
