Bulletin

There are no active regions visible on the disk. Solar activity has been very low over the past 24 hours, no significant flares have been recorded. No Earth directed CMEs have been observed in past 24 hours. The greater than 10MeV proton flux remained at background levels over the past 24 hours.

Solar activity is expected to remain low.

The solar wind speed fluctuated between approximately 410 and 490 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field was predominantly directed away from the Sun (positive sector). The total magnetic field gradually increased over the period, recording values between 3 and 7 nT. The Bz fluctuated between -5 and +4 nT. Geomagnetic conditions have been quiet to unsettled over the past 24 hours, with the Kp index (NOAA) and the local k index (Dourbes) recording values between 1-3 and 1-2, respectively.

Quiet to unsettled conditions are expected to continue over the next 48 hours, with active conditions possible on the 17th due to the influence of the negative polarity coronal hole, which began to traverse the central meridian on Sept 13.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 21 stations.
