Bulletin

The visible side of the solar disc is presently spotless. There were no flares reported during last 24 hours and we do not expect flaring activity in the coming hours. The eruption reported yesterday (observed at about 09:55 UT on January 14), from the decaying active region (Catania sunspot group 27) situated at the moment of eruption close to the disc center, was associated with the on- disc signatures of the CME, i.e. coronal dimming and EUV wave. Presently there are only few available coronagraph images from STEREO/COR2 coronagraph and they show presence of the weak and rather narrow CME with the speed of about 200 km/s. The CME is possibly Earth-directed, and it’s arrival, although not very probable, could be late on January 19. During last 24 hours solar protons remained at the background level.

Earth is within the slow solar wind with the speed of 340 km/s and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is about 2 nT. Presently geomagnetic conditions are quiet to unsettled and we expect them to stay so in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 13 stations.
