Solar flaring activity was at very low levels. No significant flares have been recorded. Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.
No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to stay at nominal levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to rise to moderate levels for the next 24 hours as a response to the Coronal Hole crossing Central Meridian on May 15.
The solar wind speed near Earth oscillated between the values of 300 to 385 km/s (DSCOVR). The Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) transitioned from being oriented away from the Sun to towards back to away (phi angle switched from the positive to the negative to the positive sector again). Bz varied between -6 and +6 nT. The magnitude of the magnetic field varied between 2 and 9 nT. An increase of both B and Bz late May 18 could had been a response to the Coronal Hole crossing Central Meridian on May 15. For the next 24 hours the solar wind speed is expected to stay at those levels.
Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions were registered for the past 24 hours (K Dourbes recorded values 0-3 and NOAA Kp 1-2). Quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected for the next 24 hours.
