Bulletin

Solar flaring activity was at very low levels. No significant flares have been recorded. Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels over the past 24 hours. It is expected to stay at background levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so over the next 24 hours.

The speed of the solar wind slowed down, varying between 295 and 330 km/s (DSCOVR). No effects of the CME on Aug 16 seem present. The polarity of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) varied, reflecting a patchy Sun. Bz fluctuated between -2 and +2 nT. The magnitude of the magnetic field varied between 0 and 4 nT. Over the next 24 hours, the solar wind parameters will reflect quiet conditions.

The geomagnetic conditions were quiet. The values registered for the past 24 hours were 0-3 for K Dourbes and 0-1 for NOAA Kp. Quiet conditions are expected for the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 005, based on 21 stations.
