Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. NOAA 2781 has now a simple magnetic configuration (beta) and continued its decay. A new sunspot group has rounded the southeast limb (S32E85). Both regions have been quiet. Solar activity is expected to be at low levels, in view of a possible isolated C-class flare from any of the two active regions. No earth- directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels and expected to remain so. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained below the 1000 pfu alert threshold and is expected to remain so. The 24h electron fluence is expected to remain at nominal levels.

Solar wind speed continued its overall decrease from initial values near 370 km/s to its current 330 km/s (DSCOVR). Bz varied between -3 and +5 nT, being mostly positive. The interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was directed towards the Sun (negative sector).

Geomagnetic activity was at quiet levels and is expected to remain so.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 024, based on 14 stations.
