Bulletin

Solar activity was at low levels. NOAA 2782 (Catania 52) produced 3 C-class flares. The strongest was a C2.6 Long Duration Event (LDE) peaking on 11 November at 19:12UTC. The event was associated with an EIT wave, coronal dimming and a coronal mass ejection (CME), the latter believed not to have an earth-directed component. NOAA 2781 (Catania 50) lost its trailing spots, producing only a single B-class flare. Catania 53 (S23E23) is very small and quiet. Solar activity is expected to be at low levels. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels and expected to remain so. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux exceeded the 1000 pfu alert threshold, while the 24h electron fluence remained just below moderate levels. During the next 24 hours, the electron flux is expected to stay below 1000 pfu, and the electron fluence to remain at nominal levels.

Solar wind slightly enhanced during the period. Solar wind speed increased from an initial 320 km/s to its current values near 400 km/s (DSCOVR data were missing between 23 and 04UTC). Bz varied between -6 and +6 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was mostly directed towards the Sun (negative sector), except during the 05-08UTC interval (positive sector).

Geomagnetic activity was at quiet levels, with Dourbes registering unsettled conditions during the 19-22UT interval. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be at quiet levels, with a small chance on an unsettled episode.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 029, based on 18 stations.
