Bulletin

During the last 24 hours, region Catania 74/NOAA AR 2804 (N20W63) was the origin of a C2.7 class flare on Feb 27 17:51UT and C3.9 class flare on Feb 28 06:40UT. The solar flaring activity is expected to remain at low levels for the next 24 hours, with a small chance of C class flares from AR 2804.

The C2.7 class flare was associated with a CME seen at Lasco at Feb 27 17:36UT. More will be reported as more data become available.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. Over the past 24 hours, the greater than 2 MeV electron flux fluctuated about the 1000 pfu threshold. It is expected to remain at about threshold levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron fluence was at moderate levels in the past 24 hours. It is expect to remain so for the next 24 hours.

The past 24 hours the solar wind speed ranged between 345 km/s and 400 km/s. The total magnetic field values were between 2 nT and 4 nT. The Bz component fluctuated between -3 nT and 4 nT. The orientation of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) was predominantly on the postive sector (away from the Sun). Over the next 24 hours the solar wind parameters are expected to remain at about those levels, as we are awaiting for the effects of the high speed streams associated the with northern positive Coronal Hole (CH) and mainly the southern negative CH that crossed Central Meridian on Feb26 from late March 1.

The geomagnetic conditions over the past 24 hours were quiet . They are expected to remain at quiet to unsettled levels for the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 013, based on 21 stations.
