Bulletin

The Sun produced no C flares in the past 24 hours. The chance for a C flare in the next 24 hours is estimated at 5%.

No Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron fluence was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours.

The solar wind speed as registered by DSCOVR further decreased from about 545 to 450 km/s in the past 24 hours. The Interplanetary Magnetic Field near Earth (IMF) was oriented towards the Sun and its magnitude varied between about 2 and 4 nT, which implies Bz was never below -5 nT. Nominal solar wind conditions are expected in the next 24 hours. A high speed stream from a negative polarity coronal hole is expected to arrive near Earth late on November 21 or on November 22.

Quiet geomagnetic conditions (K-BEL between 1 and 2; NOAA Kp = 1) were registered in the past 24 hours. Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic levels (K-BEL < 4) are expected on November 19 and 20 and in the first half of November 21. Active to minor storm intervals (K-BEL = 4-5) are possible in the second half of November 21, upon the expected arrival of a high speed stream from a negative polarity coronal hole, late on November 21 or early on November 22.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 021, based on 11 stations.
