Bulletin

Solar flaring activity was low during the last 24 hours, with two C-class flares detected from a yet unnumbered Active Region (AR) at S25E65. The rest of the AR did not produce any flare activity above the B-class level. The S25E65 AR is expected to produce more C-class flares in the next 24 hours. A second unnumbered AR at N15E70 has a complex magnetic configuration and might produce C-class flare(s) during the next 24 hours.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been observed in the available coronagraph data.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained below the 1000 pfu alert threshold and is expected to remain below this threshold during the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence was at nominal levels and is expected to remain so.

The Solar Wind (SW) conditions (as measured by the DSCOVR and ACE satellites) are still under the influence of a High Speed Stream (HSS) that arrived on February 26. The SW speed varied between 440 and 540 km/s during the last 24 hours. The total magnetic field (Btot) gradually dropped from 11 to 2 nT, while its Bz component varied between -7 and 10 nT over the last 24 hours. The interplanetary magnetic field phi angle was predominantly positive (directed away from the Sun). These enhanced solar wind conditions are expected to gradually return to a slow wind regime during the next 24 hours.

Geomagnetic conditions were globally and locally quiet to moderate (NOAA Kp and K-BEL indices 3-1). Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet to moderate with a chance of becoming active over the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 054, based on 22 stations.
