Bulletin

Solar flaring activity over the past 24 hours was at very low levels, no C-class flares observed. There are four numbered active regions (ARs) on the visible disc: NOAA ARs 3040 (rotating over the west limb), 3047 and 3048 have beta magnetic field configuration; NOAA AR 3046 have alpha magnetic field configuration. A similar situation is expected over the next 24 hours, with possible isolated C-class flaring.

No Earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were detected in the available coronagraph imagery over the past 24 hours.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is below the 1000 pfu threshold and is expected to remain there over the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence was at moderate levels and is expected to decrease towards normal levels over the next 24 hours.

Over the past 24 hours, we saw the ongoing effect of the ICME that arrived on 1 July. The magnetic field reached 13 nT but since Bz remained positive and the solar wind speed was (and is) at low values around 300 km/s, no significant geomagnetic impact was recorded. The magnetic field is still relatively elevated, at 10 nT. We expect the influence of the ICME to vanish in the next 24 hours. In about 48 hours, a high speed stream from a positive polarity equatorial coronal hole is expected to arrive.

The geomagnetic conditions over the past 24 hours were quiet to unsettled both at planetary and local levels (Kp and K_Droubes up to 3). Mostly quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions are expected over the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 060, based on 16 stations.
