Bulletin

Solar flaring activity was low during the last 24 hours with eight C-class flares detected and the brightest was a C9, today at 04:07 UT from NOAA Active Region (AR) 3047. There are numerous AR on the visible side of the solar disk, however, they are relatively small with simple magnetic configuration. NOAA AR 3047 lost some of its magnetic complexity during the last 24 hours but is still capable of producing a C-class flare. Two AR are expected to turn into Earth's view in the next 24 hours or so and they have a potential for C-class flaring activity.

No Earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were detected in the available coronagraph imagery over the past 24 hours.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained below the 1000 pfu alert threshold and is expected to remain below this threshold during the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence was at nominal levels and is expected to remain so.

During the last 24 hours the Solar Wind (SW) conditions became typical of the slow regime. The SW speed dropped from 490 to 350 km/s in the last 24 hours. The total magnetic field (Bt) also dropped drastically from 16 to 1 nT, while its Bz component ranged from -10 to 13 nT at 4 July and has dropped to nearly zero since. The interplanetary magnetic field phi angle was mostly in the negative sector (directed towards the Sun) over the last 24 hours. The SW conditions are expected to continue being typical of a slow wind regime.

Geomagnetic conditions reached active levels globally (Kp 1-4) and moderate levels locally (K Doubres 1-3) during the last 24 hours. The geomagnetic activity is expected to become quiet both globally and locally in the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 081, based on 20 stations.
