Solar Active Regions and flaring

Solar flaring activity over the last 24h has been low, with a single C1.0 flare peaking at 03:53 UTC on April 9th. There are currently six active regions on the solar disk with NOAA AR 3633 (beta-gamma) being the most complex one. NOAA AR 3630 has now decayed into plage as it is rotating behind the west. A simple region in the north-east quadrant has been numbered as NOAA AR 3634 (alpha) and a new active region is currently rotating from the north-east limb. The solar flaring activity is expected to be at low levels over the next 24 hours, with C-class flares probable.

Espulsioni di massa coronale

No Earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were detected in the available coronagraph observations in the last 24 hours.

Fori coronali

A small, mid-latitude, negative polarity coronal hole began to cross the central meridian around 07:00 UTC on April 9th.

Vento solare

The Earth is inside the slow solar wind, with speed values ranging from 350 km/s to 400 km/s and an interplanetary magnetic field around 8nT. The minimum Bz value was -7nT. Mostly slow solar wind conditions are expected over the next 24 hours.

Geomagnetism

Geomagnetic conditions were globally and locally at quiet levels or unsettled levels (NOAA_Kp and K_BEL 0 to 3). Similar conditions are expected in the next 24 hours.

Proton flux levels

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was below the threshold level over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours.

Electron fluxes at geostationary orbit

The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was below the threshold level in the last 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence is presently at normal levels and is expected to remain so in the coming 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 057, based on 16 stations.
