A coronal hole is facing our planet today which is sending a high speed solar wind stream towards us which could cause enhanced geomagnetic conditions (and thus aurora!) in the days ahead.
A southern hemisphere coronal hole is facing Earth. Enhanced solar wind could arrive in ~3 days - Follow live on https://t.co/bsXLidnzGh pic.twitter.com/LnMFhUUSM4

The coronal hole is quite wide and near the equator. Solar wind flowing from this coronal hole could start to influence the geomagnetic conditions on our planet as early as tomorrow, 17 January. Expect enhanced geomagnetic conditions at high latitude locations when the stream arrives.
When it comes to solar flares and sunspot regions thing are sort of quiet. There have been no noteworthy coronal mass ejections or solar flares the past few days and there is only a low to moderate chance (less than 50% chance) of M-class activity in the next 24 hours.
