Bulletin

There are currently only four numbered sunspot groups visible on the solar disc. Solar activity is low, with no C-class flares reported during last 24 hours. We can expect only isolated, low C-class flares in the next 24 hours (probability is about 25 percent). No Earth directed CMEs were observed in the last 24 hours.

The solar wind speed currently amounts about 450 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude has increased, during last 10 hours, and it currently amounts about 10 nT. Concurrently with this increase, the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field started to oscillate. These indicates the upcoming arrival of the fast solar wind (associated with the small equatorial coronal hole which reached central meridian in the morning of May 03), which is expected to arrive today. The equatorial coronal holes have reached central meridian this morning, the associated fast flow is expected at the Earth on May 09. The expected arrival of the fast flow might induce active to geomagnetic storm conditions in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 056, based on 24 stations.
