Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels during the period. Low-level B-class flaring was observed from NOAA 2648 (B1.8) and from a new active region at the east limb NOAA 2650 (B2.7, B1.1, B1.3). No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10MeV proton flux was at nominal levels.

Quiet flaring conditions are expected, with a chance on an isolated C-class flare.

Solar wind speed declined from about 470 km/s to values around 420 km/s. Bz fluctuated between -3.5 and +7 nT, being positive after 16UT. The interplanetary magnetic field was initially directed away from the Sun, but changed to a mostly toward the Sun direction after 02UT.

Solar wind parameters are expected to decline further today. A weak connection to an isolated, positive polarity coronal hole is expected to enhance the solar wind environment from tomorrow.

The geomagnetic field was at active to quiet levels (Kp NOAA index: 3-1). Local geomagnetic data were missing for the period. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet to unsettled.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 014, based on 21 stations.
