Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. Sunspot region NOAA 2709 (Catania 81) is slowly decaying and barely visible. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels.

Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

Earth was under the waning influence of the wind stream from an elongated negative polarity equatorial coronal hole (CH). Solar wind speed first declined from 520 km/s to 440 km/s by 23UT, before enhancing again to 500 km/s (DSCOVR). By the end of the period, wind speed values were near 430 km/s. Bz was first steady with values near 0 nT until midnight, when it started varying between -6 and +4 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field was mainly directed towards the Sun. Geomagnetic activity was mostly quiet, with an unsettled episode recorded by Dourbes during the 21-24UT interval.

Mostly quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected, with a chance on an unsettled interval.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 011, based on 10 stations.
