Bulletin

Over the past 24 hours solar activity has been Low. No significant flares have been recorded. There are currently two ARs visible on the Western solar limb (2719 and 2720). A new AR will rotate into view in the next couple of days. No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected, however a small backsided eruption has been detected off the East limb and should not affect the Earth system. The greater than 10MeV proton flux remained at background levels over the past 24 hours. There is currently a region of patchy coronal hole located in central latitudes. Solar activity is expected to remain low over the next 24 hours with a low probability of C-class flares and a low probability of M-class flares. The solar wind speed has fluctuated between 510 and 560 km/s. The total magnetic field strength has decreased from 5 to 3 nT. The Bz component has fluctuated around 0, ranging between -5 and +5 nT. Geomagnetic conditions ranged between Kp index 1-3 (NOAA) and local K index 0-3 (Dourbes) over the past 24 hours. Small enhancements in geomagnetic activity may be experienced due to a region of patchy coronal hole located near disk centre a couple of days ago, which may enhance solar wind speeds slightly over the next couple of days. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet to active.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 17 stations.
