There were no B-class or C-class flares reported since November 27 when a low B-class flare was observed. There are presently no active regions observed on the visible side of the solar disc, and therefore we do not expect any flaring activity in the coming days. Rather large prominence, situated at the southern solar hemisphere, erupted this morning at about 03:30 UT. As only two coronagraph images are presently available it is not yet possible to accurately estimate the speed of the associated CME. The prominence was situated rather close to the southern coronal hole and the associated CME is probably directed southward from the Sun-Earth line, and it is therefore not expected to arrive to the Earth. More will be reported when coronagraph data become available. During the last 24 hours the solar protons remained at the background level.
The Earth is still inside the slow solar wind with the speed of about 340 km/s and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is about 2 nT. The geomagnetic conditions are presently quiet. We might expect unsettled to active geomagnetic conditions later today and tomorrow due to expected arrival of the fast solar wind associate with the extended coronal hole which reached central meridian on November 27.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 18 stations.
