Bulletin

Solar activity has been quiet over the past 24 hours. The X-ray flux remained at background levels, and the visible solar disc is spotless. EUV imagery reveals a simple magnetic structure near the central meridian, but appears stable in magnetogram observations. Solar activity is expected to remain at low levels for the next 24 hours. No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CME) have been detected in the available coronagraph imagery over the past 24 hours. The greater than 10 MeV solar protons flux remained at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so.

The solar wind speed has fluctuated between 310 and 350 km/s over the past 24 hours. The total magnetic field strength has fluctuated between 3.5 and 9.0 nT. The Bz component fluctuated around 0 nT, between -4.0 and 6.0 nT. Both the solar wind speed and field strength experienced a small jump around 09:00 UT this morning, which may have been caused by a small Earth directed CME observed in STEREO COR2 observations on 06-Jun-2019, with a speed of approximately 210 km/s. The eruption was anticipated to interact with the Earth system late on 07-Jun-2019. The effects are expected to be small.

Geomagnetic conditions fluctuated between Kp index 0-1 (NOAA) and local K index 0-3 (Dourbes) over the past 24 hours. The Earth is currently under the influence of a slow solar wind stream. A small coronal hole passed the central meridian yesterday and the associated High Speed Stream (HSS) may enhance solar wind conditions at Earth, although the effects are anticipated to be small. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet with a small possibility of unsettled conditions.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 17 stations.
