The visible side of the Sun is spotless and did not produce any flares in the past 24 hours. The chance for a C flare in the next 24 hours is estimated at only 1%.
No Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to stay at nominal levels in the next 24 hours.
Solar wind speed near Earth as registered by ACE varied between about 320 and 370 km/s until the arrival around 22:25 UT on July 4 of a high speed stream from a small, recurrent, negative polarity equatorial coronal hole that crossed the central meridian on July 1, which caused the solar wind speed to gradually rise from about 345 to 455 km/s, with current values around 420 km/s. The Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) changed direction and is now pointed towards from the Sun. Its magnitude varied between about 1 and 8 nT in the past 24 hours. Bz was never below -5 nT for extended intervals of time. Solar wind conditions are expected to stay enhanced on July 5 and 6.
Quiet geomagnetic conditions (K Dourbes equal to 2; NOAA Kp between 1 and 2) were registered in the past 24 hours. Active intervals (K Dourbes = 4) are possible on July 5 and 6, with a chance for minor geomagnetic storm intervals (K Dourbes = 5). Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic levels (K Dourbes < 4) are expected on July 7.
