Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. The Sun was spotless. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) have been observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values. Some small and patchy equatorial coronal holes (CHs) are present on the solar disk.

Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

Solar wind speed was on a slightly declining trend, varying between mostly 390 and 440 km/s, and ending the period near 390 km/s (ACE). Bz varied between -4 and + 4 nT, being mostly negative during the first half of the period, and mostly positive afterwards. The interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was mostly directed towards the Sun (negative sector). Geomagnetic conditions were at quiet levels, with an unsettled episode (21-24UT) recorded by K Dourbes.

Geomagnetic activity is expected to remain mostly at quiet levels. Isolated unsettled intervals are possible if the earth environment should encounter enhanced wind streams from currently present small and patchy coronal holes.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 12 stations.
