Bulletin

The solar activity was quiet over the past 24 hours. No significant flares have been recorded. The X-ray flux is below B-class level and the solar activity is expected to remain at low levels.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery in the last 24 hours.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to stay at nominal levels for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was between nominal and moderate levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain at nominal to moderate levels over the next 24 hours.

The solar wind parameters were mostly at nominal levels. The solar wind speed near Earth was slow and oscillated between 280 km/s and 343 km/s (DSCOVR). The interplanetary magnetic field was at nominal levels, except for the total magnetic field that reached 10 nT for a short period, on May 20 around 20:00 UTC, possibly due to the passage of a transient solar wind structure. Bz magnetic field components fluctuated between -5.5 nT and +5.3 nT. The Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) phi angle was predominantly in the positive sector (directed away from the Sun). Enhancements of the solar wind conditions are expected for the next days, May 04-06, in response to the influence of the solar wind associated with the negative polarity coronal hole, that transited the central meridian on May 01.

Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled (local K Dourbes and NOAA Kp recorded values between 0-3) over the last 24 hours. Unsettled conditions with possible short periods of active conditions are expected, due to the arrival of the high-speed stream associated with the small equatorial coronal hole mentioned above.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 25 stations.
