Bulletin

During last 24 hours, solar flaring activity was low, without any flares reported. We expect a low level of flaring activity in the coming hours. Isolated B-class flares are possible, while C-class flares are possible but not probable. During last 24 hours there were no Earth directed CMEs and the solar protons remained at the background level.

The in situ observations show clear signatures of the solar wind originating from the negative polarity coronal hole. It is however, not possible to specify if the source was the extension of the southern polar coronal hole or the small equatorial coronal hole as they both have negative polarity. The solar wind speed is presently 400 km/s and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is about 4 nT. The arrival of solar wind originating from the coronal hole induced active geomagnetic conditions. The local station at Dourbes reported interval of K=4 from about 21:00 UT until the 24:00 UT on May 30, while NOAA reported only longer interval of Kp=3. We expect quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 20 stations.
