Bulletin

Several B flares and only a single C flare were recorded, all originating from the new region in the South East (NOAA region 2894) which is the only region on disc with beta type configuration of the photospheric field, with the formation of trailing spots over the past days. Region 2893 remains unipolar and remained inactive while region 2891 lost most of its spots but did produce a long duration B7.1 flare peaking at 10:35UT. In the North East a spotless region has turned onto the disc. Flaring at C level remains possible.

A filament eruption occurred from just to the West of NOAA 2893 around noon November 6, but no corresponding CME signatures could be identified in coronagraph images. No new Earth directed CMEs have been recorded in coronagraph data.

The more than 10MeV proton flux was at background values and is expected to remain at background values. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux reached again above the 1000 pfu threshold yesterday and is also today above the threshold. The 24h electron fluence was at moderate levels and is expected to be at moderate or even high levels with the continued elevated Solar wind conditions.

Solar wind conditions saw a gradual decay after the CME arrivals. The Solar wind speed decreased to under 500 km/s while the magnitude of the interplanetary field was at around or under 5nT. The Bz evolved steadily from -4nT to 4nT, meaning it was persistently negative yesterday afternoon. Solar wind conditions may become slightly elevated again from later today or early tomorrow November 8 due to possible weak high speed stream influences related to a small positive polarity equatorial coronal hole.

Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to active (NOAA Kp and local K Dourbes 0-4) with the active conditions in response to the sustained negative Bz yesterday afternoon. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be mostly quiet to unsettled over the next days with active periods possible, depending on the strength of the high speed stream.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 029, based on 17 stations.
