Geophysical report

Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled.

STRATWARM ALERT EXISTS STRATWARM FRIDAY MAJOR WARMING IN PROGRESS. INTENSE POLAR VORTEX IS MOVING TOWARDS EUROPEAN ARCTIC, ALEUTIAN HIGH STAYS OVER NORTHERN ALASKA, TEMPERATURE GRADIENT BETWEEN 60N AND THE POLE REVERSED THROUGHOUT THE STRATOSPHERE UP TO THE 2 HPA LEVEL (ABOUT 40 KM), WIND REVERSAL AT 60N/10 HPA EXPECTED WITHIN THE NEXT 3 DAYS.
