Geophysical report

Any mentioned solar flare in this report has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC). Because of the SWPC scaling factor, solar flares are reported as 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.

C. Geomagnetic Activity Summary
The geomagnetic field was at quiet to unsettled levels. The expected interplanetary shock from the M5/CME event on 16 Aug was observed at the L1 position by the NASA/ACE spacecraft at 18/1810 UTC. A corresponding sudden impulse of 27 nT was recorded on the Boulder magnetometer at 18/1848 UTC. Greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit exceeded event threshold with a peak value of 1590 pfu.
