Current solar activity, with several C-class flares, originates from Catania sunspot groups 24 and 26 (NOAA AR 1785 and 1787). Catania group 24 slightly decreased in size, but remains it's magnetic complexity. Catania group 26 has increased in size and complexity (now also having a delta component in it's photospheric magnetic field). C-class flaring activity is expected, with a slight chance for a M-class flare. Solar wind speed as observed by ACE is at 320 km/s and the magnitude of the interplanetary magnetic field is up to 8 nT with a Bz varying from -5 to +5 nT. Geomagnetic conditions are quiet and are expected to remain so for the next 48 hours.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 075, based on 13 stations.
