NOAA Active Region 1850 - Catania sunspot region nr 83 was the source of 4 B-flares yesterday and today. The X-ray background radiation is near the bottom of the B-level. We can conclude that flaring activity was low. We don't expect it to rise dramatically. The magnetic field changed direction on September 23. ACE data show today, September 24 an interaction region between a slow and fast solar wind. The total interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) and the density increased. Since the Bz component of the IMF has values below -5nT, the geomagnetic field can slightly be disturbed resulting in possible active conditions: K=4.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 046, based on 18 stations.
