Bulletin

The solar activity during the past 24 hours was low. The background of the X-ray flux is at the B-level for almost a week now. The active regions (AR) NOAA 2282, 2284 and 2285 were relatively stable and did not produce any significant flares. A new -still to be numbered- region is rounding the East limb (N15) and is a candidate to produce some C-flaring. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed. Nominal solar wind conditions are observed with a low solar wind speed near 350 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) magnitude ranges between 5 and 10 nT with a fluctuating, but mainly positive Bz component. A sector boundary crossing from negative to positive occurred near 9h30 UT 16 February, accompanied by a small jump (from 6 to 10 nT) in the IMF magnitude. Quiet solar wind conditions are expected to persist. Geomagnetic conditions are quiet to unsettled, both at the local level (at Dourbes) and global level (estimated NOAA Kp) and are expected to remain so.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 035, based on 12 stations.
