Bulletin

The Sun has been quiet over the past 24 hours, NOAA Active Region (AR) 2376 produced the only C-class flare, peaking at 22:11 UT on 2015-Jul-30. We expect flaring activity on the C-level from ARs 2373 and 2376, with an M-class flare being unlikely. Proton levels are still declining and are now below 1 pfu. Other recurrent active regions are rotating into view now and may increase solar activity in the coming days. The Earth is currently in a slow solar wind flow with the speed around 400 km / s, but will be moving into a fast solar wind stream over the coming days which should enhance the speed. The total magnetic field has been around 5 nT with small fluctuations, and the Bz component has fluctuated from positive to negative, between +5 and -5 nT over the past 24 hours. Geomagnetic conditions ranged between Kp index 1-3 (NOAA) and local K index 1-3 over the past 24 hours, similar conditions are expected to persist. There were no significant CMEs over the past 24 hours. There is one transient coronal hole currently located in the South East, which may enhance solar wind speeds in a few days.

From July 1st, 2015 onwards, the Sunspot Number archive has been replaced by a new re-calibrated series. The processing of the sunspot numbers has been adapted, which leads to a change in the scale of the Estimated ISN numbers reported below. For more details, please visit the SILSO Web pages: http://www.sidc.be/silso/newdataset

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 055, based on 20 stations.
